Hello All! I am currently the Youth Director for Santa Teresita YCC. A little about myself; I love chocolate everything, swimming on Lake Kaweah and my 2 fur babies! I been married to my best-friend for 6 years and we call the Central Valley our home.
I am very blessed to say that my journey of 16 years in Youth Ministry and God’s grace, have lead me to this moment and to this beautiful place. I’ve had the joy of beginning my journey at an early age and with numerous opportunities of growth along the way, from interning at the Diocese of Fresno to being part of the staff at Santa Teresita YCC. I graduated from California State University in Fresno with a degree in Family and Consume Science, I also have several certificates in faith formation from University of Norte Dame, McGrath Institute for Church Life. I am looking forward to continuing my growth through a Masters Degree in Theology.
My awe of the Lord continues to be limitless and it brings me cheer to see the Holy Spirit sparking fire in the hearts of our young people. Their stories are part of God’s narrative and there is no greater joy than to know you belong and are loved unconditionally. To this day, what brings me the most happiness is the conclusion of each retreat, not because the retreat ends, but because I get to experience first hand the transformation of each young person and be a witness to their encounter with Christ.
My name is Alfredo Camarena, I am the Retreat Coordinator at Santa Teresita. I am the youngest of three and have a huge love for animals, especially dogs! With my degree in Multimedia in Mass Communicationa and Journalism from California State University in Fresno; I have a huge passion for creating and producing digital content on serveral platforms.
I’ve been involved in creating marketing content, social media management, and developing ministry for over 10 years. Having led youth ministry at St. Anthony Claret, Fresno as the youth coordinator helped guide me to take the next step here at the youth center. I am excited to be part of the team that develops and carry out events for youth and young adults, helping to create unforgettable experiences for all of our groups. The staff here and I truly believe in the work and development we’re doing here is creating real positive impacts for the young people of our Diocese and Central Valley. We’re here to help meet your needs!
Hi guys! I’m Sam and I am one of the Assistant Retreat Coordinators here at STYCC. I come from a blended family with 6 siblings and have been blessed with 30 nieces and nephews! I think it goes without saying that family is very important to me! I attended Holy Names University in pursuit of my Psychology degree and took a break to help support my family when my father was diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoma. I hope to start up again soon and also pursue a degree in Ministry. I was an Instructional Assistant for what is now the AcCEL Program for seven years with Tulare County Office of Education before making the transition to Santa Teresita; people with special needs will always have a place in my heart!
I served in Youth Ministry at St. Catherine of Siena in Dinuba for ten years, and was involved with events at the Diocesan level, and it was such a wonderful and life-changing experience. I am so thankful for the people and opportunities I have met and been given because without them, I would not be who I am and where I am today. I love being a part of the staff here and interacting with the young people and supportive leaders who come here.
